Choose ecological DiBt approved flame retardant for CLT elements

Nordtreat will present its ecological and decorative flame retardant treatment for cross-laminated timber at the International Holzbau Forum in Innsbruck from 30.11. to 2.12.2022

The bio-based NT DECO flame retardant enables an ecological fire protection treatment for wood products. It has building authority approval from the German Institute for Building Technology, which means that cross-laminated timber elements treated with NT DECO can be classified as flame-retardant building materials.

THE MOST ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY FIRE PROTECTION SOLUTION ON THE MARKET

NT DECO is easy to apply: it is a one-pot system, so no further primers or top coats are required. The required minimum application quantity of 350 g/m² can be applied to the cross-laminated timber elements in 4 layers by spraying or brushing.

In addition to a clear product, many translucent colours are available. This means that flame-retardant cross-laminated timber elements can be designed decoratively.

NT DECO is already being used very successfully in many countries, especially in solid wood construction. With the granting of the building authority approval by the DIBt, NT DECO can now also be used in Germany in a compliant manner. In addition to the building authority approval, NT DECO has many classification reports from accredited European fire testing institutes, which have tested and confirmed its effectiveness.

NT DECO PROVIDES QUANTIFIABLE SUSTAINABILITY

NT DECO is the most environmentally friendly fire protection solution on the market. Nordtreat has documented the environmental impact of the production process and the entire manufacturing and application process of NT DECO in a life cycle analysis. The analysis offers interesting data in comparison with conventional products for fire protection in the field of solid wood construction. For example, planking the wooden elements with gypsum plasterboards or gypsum fibreboards. Here, NT DECO performs with a significantly lower Co2 footprint.

NT DECO is used in the majority of applications on the construction site after the cross-laminated timber elements have been erected. For this purpose, Nordtreat offers training and qualification for interested surface treatment companies. In addition, Nordtreat is in talks with some cross-laminated timber manufacturers to carry out the fire protection treatment with NT DECO already in the factory.

NT DECO offers tested and ecological fire protection for cross-laminated timber and thus an enrichment for modern timber construction.
