Opdeco is a Finnish company that designs high-quality décor for demanding premises. It implemented the interior of a lifestyle store located in a mall in downtown Helsinki using snag wood in the upholstery and structures. These elements were fire protected using toned NT DECO.

You can get the entire interior decoration and furnishing of your public premises as one, well managed total delivery from a single supplier. This is Opdeco's successful recipe that attracts customers with big and small facilities alike. The comprehensive delivery of an office, restaurant or store décor requires precise design and planning, project management, and also partners who provide well-functioning high-quality solutions that suit the project's needs.

Bigger projects are usually implemented according to the architect's designs, but in smaller premises, Opdeco may also assume responsibility for the design phase. The required plans are drawn up in cooperation with the architect and customer, and installations are carried out by Opdeco's professional specialists.

WOOD IS AN ESSENTIAL ELEMENT IN AN ATTRACTIVE STORE DECOR

Natural wood and wood veneer are popular décor materials today. Light-toned wooden surfaces create a warm atmosphere and match well with steel, for example. Wood is a natural choice especially for brands that emphasise ecological values.

The décor project of the large lifestyle store in downtown Helsinki included fixtures and also a lot of structures and surfaces that were made from pine snag. In total, two lorry loads, or about 10,000 running metres, of fire protected wood products were used in the project. They can be found in the upholstery of walls, the service counters and in the pergola structures of the restaurant that is also part of the store.

ONE PRODUCT FOR CERTIFIED FIRE PROTECTION AND THE DESIRED TONE

In the store described above, the wood surfaces and structures had to meet the fire protection requirements of fire classification B-s1, d0. In addition, the tone of the wood surfaces had to correspond to the architect's designs.

“We searched many places to find a reasonably priced fire protection solution that would provenly meet the fire authorities’ regulations and also provide the tone we wanted. Nordtreat was able to offer a thoroughly tested, certified solution that also met our other expectations.”

Olli Päivärinta, Managing Director, Opdeco

In order to reach the desired tone in the final product, the original tone of the pine wood had to be taken into account when choosing the tone of the fire retardant. Opdeco and Nordtreat tested several alternatives before making the final choice.

The snag pine products were treated with the toned NT DECO fire retardant according to Nordtreat's certified system at Opdeco’s parent company's Kaluste Päivärinta's furniture factory in Kuusamo.

“NT DECO is a reliable wood fire protection solution with an excellent price-quality ratio, especially for sites where compliance with fire protection regulations must be proven to the construction authorities. I am also pleased with Nordtreat's service.”

Olli Päivärinta, Managing Director, Opdeco
