Examples of fire protected timber facade solutions

A timber frame structure forms the core of timber construction. The good properties of wood also come into their own as building surfaces. There are various visual solutions with regard to visible wooden surfaces and their fire safety can be ensured by selecting panels, boards and other wood products treated with a non-toxic fire retardant.

Apartment buildings and entire residential areas based on timber construction interest various stakeholders from town planners to designers, builders and residents. Timber is also being used in increasingly diverse ways in public construction from libraries to schools and nursing facilities. The beautiful and eco-friendly material also increases the appeal of commercial premises.

TONED TIMBER FACADES FOR MULTI-STOREY BUILDINGS

With timber frame buildings, it is also natural to use environmentally friendly wood on the facades and interior surfaces in accordance with the visual and functional objectives. For example, the following wood products can be used on facades as well as in entrance areas and balconies:

  • Cladding panels
  • CLT elements
  • Facade panels, e.g. MDF
  • Batten, panel or board elements

When wood is selected as a surface material, it does not have to be disguised as something else. Toned surface treatments let natural grain patterns stand out. The translucent, toned NT DECO fire retardant is excellent for outdoor use. The non-toxic product protects timber surfaces from the impact of weather and sunlight and also forms a natural barrier against mould and decay.
